book synopsis

We all wear masks of secrecy. Some are small and insignificant while others are dark and forbidden. We wear them to mislead and sometimes deceive. It is, after all, easier to live a lie than to expose ourselves to the world. Exposure would leave us vulnerable. Yet, the truth could set us free; we hope. The moment we truly abandon all forgeries and remove our veil is the only time we can fully accept our true identity.

For Nina Luther living a lie is life in its purest form. As a child, Nina knew she and her entire family were different. The mortals who surround her, fear the unknowingness of what they will become. Nina has no such fear. She is all too aware that her time here on earth will be plagued by her heavenly gift to help others; she despises this. All Nina desires is to be an average high school senior, but cannot hide from her divine destiny.

While adapting to her family’s recent move to Savannah, Georgia, Nina falls hard for Chase James, a mysterious loner with a dark and demonic secret of his own.

In this world there are saints and sinners. The difference between the two: every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. Who will be the last one standing? Will the demonic uprising on earth mean the end for the mortal angel Nina? Or will she live to die another day?

Splinters by M.R. Field {Cover Reveal}

Title: Splinters
Series: Running on Empty #2
Author: M.R. Field
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Hang Le
 Release Date: September 28, 2015
Hazel I’ve spent my younger years acting, safe in a world of make-believe. I learnt to transform into roles to hold onto a sense of harmony in my life.

Years later, still in that moment, I am another face. Another mask. I am not me—the forgotten daughter, the quiet friend, the unrequited love.

Until the pretending becomes meaningless.

And my life hardens again.

I’m tired of acting for my friends when my parents ignore me. I’m tired of acting for myself when I want the world to stop being so hard. I’m tired of holding back from the only man I’ve ever loved.

Even though being drawn to him petrifies me above all else.

When I act to him, he sees right through me.

Each and every time.

RobbieShe has haunted my dreams for years. The girl I teased to watch her blush. The girl I watched in quiet agony. The girl I had a chance with, one I ruined when I pushed her away.

Now, after all these years, she’s returning to work for me. A ruse to make her mine.

I will show her that she deserves to be cherished, and loved. I’ll bring back that goddess who took my breath away when I was twenty.

You only live once. Side by side, I only want this final lifetime spent with her.

Available Now
Hazel Without turning, I know it’s Robbie standing there. I hear a muttered “fuck” as he clears his throat. That familiar wave that I’ve felt all this time returns. No matter where he is, I sense him. My body feels in tune with his, like a well-loved instrument. I want to be strummed, my pulse to rise while everything else fades away.

“It’s okay,” I assure him, my voice deep with desire, “you can come in.”

I don’t risk turning around just yet. I know those eyes will loosen the grip I have at my side, and the fingers will release my costume until it flutters to the ground.

“Ten minutes to show time, Hazel.” His voice breaks. A breath flutters out of my throat.

In the corner of my eye, I see him move closer until he is standing behind me. My grip tightens on the fabric as I feel his warm breath against my neck. Goosebumps tease along my skin and I can’t help it. I have to look at him. My eyes turn and stare into the molten depths of the eyes of the most beautiful man I have ever known. Without a word, his fingers reach out to my hips and begin to slowly zip up the corset. As the zip drags up my side, his warm fingers tease my skin until soft pants escape my lips. I swallow hard. I run the tip of my tongue along the inside of my lip, not caring that I’ve probably coated it in lipstick.

He finishes zipping me up and runs his fingertips along the feathered tulle that peaks out at the top from under the seam of the corset. He hisses as the heat from my body rushes to the surface, giving my skin a pink glow.

He gently turns me to face him and I watch nervously as his eyes trail up and down my body.

“You are magnificent.” He breathes, his voice only marginally returning.

“Th … thank you for the flowers,” I stammer, too turned on to function. A slow smile warms his face as he leans forward to leave a gentle kiss behind my left ear. “Anytime,” he whispers in my ear.

truths will finally come to light. Whether or not Peyton wants to hear it, the
truth will undoubtedly break her heart all over again.

I tip my hat to Len. She is one beautiful writer.

Sometimes Moments is not just a book for me. It is an inspiration and it definitely changes the perspective of life. It is one of the best reads I’ve come across.

It is a beautiful story of Peyton and Callum. But it tags with itself some hangover. You would be needing a box of kleenex, and lots of chocolate ice-cream.

This book will make you connect with the story in an emotion way. You’ll cry, but it is hard to put it down. You want to read it until the end, even if it means throwing yourself into emotion plot twists.

I love Len for writing such a story. She has written this book so beautifully. I don’t think I’ve ever read such a book in my life. This is can be a life changer.

Sometimes Moments will make you realise that you need to cherish each moment of your life. Forgiveness is hard to give, but let go of the grudge. Create your own happy moment. When you are in that moment, you’ll know that it is a sometimes moments.

“When you know, you know.”

Peyton listened until Jay’s familiar laugh rang high and then she
breathed out. His laugh was a form of remedy for her. Though he was so much
like Peyton and Graham, he was far different from them. Jay was comfortable
with his life. For Peyton, she was just managing.
Shaking her head, Peyton looked down at the papers sprawled on the
table. The sound of a chair scratching caught her attention. When she lifted
her gaze, she was irritated to see none other than Callum Reid sitting in front
of her, his arms crossed over his chest.
Peyton closed her eyes tight and sat properly in her chair. It was a
talk Callum wanted, and Peyton had thoroughly avoided it since his return.
“Peyton,” Callum acknowledged in a dull tone.
“Callum,” she said, mimicking the lifeless pitch in his voice.
His lips pursed and he eyed her. Silence was exchanged between them,
suffocating her. When it reached an unbearable quota, Peyton started to collect
her work.
“Why does everyone in this town love you so much but hate me? I grew up
here too.”
His question startled her, causing Peyton to lift her head and glance at
him. His eyes swept over the pub, filled with disbelief.
He really doesn’t get it.
“Because you left, Callum,” Peyton stated.
He slowly turned his head until his eyes met hers. Callum’s jaw locked
as if he were attempting to control his emotions around her.
“So did everyone else,” he pointed out.
“Everyone had their reasons.”
Callum’s eyes flashed and he abruptly leant forward. “And I didn’t,
“Yes, you did. But you didn’t give me
a reason. They all left because they gave a reason. They told the town. They
let people know. But you? You just up and left, Callum. You didn’t tell me.”
Callum flinched like her words had hurt him, which Peyton found
ridiculous. “I had my reasons, Peyton,” he said through clenched teeth. “But
that doesn’t explain why these people I’ve grown up with can’t even look at
This time, it was Peyton who flinched. Her eyes burned. He still didn’t
get it.
“Because you didn’t come back!” she shouted, tears running down her
cheeks. That façade she had hid behind crumbled. She no longer used a fake
smile. For Peyton, this was as raw and as naked as it got for her.
His eyes grew sadder, but she didn’t care. Around them the voices had
started to hush until the pub had silenced around them.
“Look around you, Peyton. Nobody else came back!” Callum raised his
Her heart clenched at the truth he spoke.
“But they did,” she sobbed.
Callum shook his head. “No, they didn’t.”
“But they did when I needed them the most!” Peyton cried before she
wiped the tears from her cheeks, hating the weakness she was showing.
“What?” he breathed.
“They all came backevery single one of them. The town hates you because
you didn’t come back. Everyone came back, Callum. My parents’ funeral
they were all there…except for you!” Her lips trembled as the heat
burned through her chest.
“Peyton,” he said almost apologetically.
“No! That one day. Their funeral. That was the day you could have
redeemed yourself, Callum. I don’t care if you couldn’t love me. I needed you
then. I lost them and you didn’t show. It was their funeral, Callum. They died.
My parents, they loved you. Don’t you get that? They loved you! They wanted me
to forgive you, but I couldn’t, and when they died, I knew I could never
forgive you. You didn’t have to be there for me. You could have been there to
pay your respects or to say goodbye, but you didn’t. The moment I buried them,
I buried any hope of you redeeming yourself.”
Peyton shook her head. “Save it. If you had just come back, I would have
forgiven you for breaking my heart. I don’t care if you couldn’t love me back.
I just needed your support and for you to acknowledge their deaths. They all
came back. The only person who didn’t show was you.” Peyton sniffed and tucked
her hair behind her ear.
That was the day she had vowed she would never let him back into her
life. The last glint of hope had died with the very last breath her parents had
breathed that day all those years ago.
